I did like Eric Bouiller, but I think he's not been advised well enough in how to be the public head to a team. He has the positive attitude that he needs, but when there is something to be negative about he's overly negative as well.
The whole Nick situation was not handled properly, and I think that the driver situation for 2012 could be a big point in his short career. He's stuck with 4 drivers.
Robert he's promised to keep the seat open for him, I understand the difficulty because you WANT him to come back as good as he left but you just don't have that foreknowledge. But you don't promise to keep the seat open for him, you promise to help but not keep the seat open unless your ready TO keep it open.
Grosjean he's going on and on about wanting him in the car, Romain totally destroyed the GP2 season this year.
Vitaly has done a good job and has a contract so breaking that contract he'd have to have a decent reason for it and Vitaly's performance has been spot on so he can't fire him for a performance reason.
Bruno is doing a good job and brings lots of sponsership so he's a teams dream at the moment.
So the Bruno/Grosjean lineup might be Erics dream lineup but he has a mine field to get through before anyone will respect any decisions he's made.
He'll need a damn good reason to get rid of Vitaly who might not be talked of like the next big thing but does a brilliant job for the team, and they have to handle Roberts situation kindly.
Who knows if Romain will do well in F1 if he gets moved up to F1?
And with Romain and Bruno who knows how their development of a car will work.
At the end of the day his handling of what he'll do in 2012 is the biggest thing he's had to face so far in the lead of Renault. He's backed himself into a corner driver wise and I'm interested in seeing how he gets out of that corner. I'm not holding my breath that he'll deal with it well.

Does anyone else feel just a little disappointed that Bruno is being classed as being a good candidate for the seat PURELY because he's going to have the money to be so?
I know sponsership is all apart of racing, and even drivers like Alonso bring certain sponsors with them to teams, but everything seems to be revolving around Bruno having 4 big sponsors now and not what he'll actually do in the last few races this year. I just see people getting all happy that Bruno has the sponsors to get a seat, but personally I'm getting annoyed that people keep talking about his sponsorship. I love Bruno and want him to get the seat but out of the 4 the reasoning behind keeping him is more about the money then anything else.

The problem is Vitaly, Bruno and to a part Romain are in the same boat and it WILL be who gives the most sponsorship. That is of course if they decide not to go with Robert and as long as Vitaly's contract can be broken.
I'm happy Bruno has the sponsorship, I just wish that Eric would be open. He does have three really decent drivers lined up behind Robert, I want him to be honest with us to why he chooses the lineup and not feed up BS about "team morale" or "Global performance" . I'm not an idiot, when one driver goes and another comes in with 4 sponsors for the team immediately I see past any "global performance" crap. I want Bruno in F1, I know that we'll always have a turn over of drivers, and it is sad when you lose a favorite driver, but I don't like this big thing Eric is making of Nick bringing the team down and not performing the way everyone wants him to.

It is difficult though. You want to be proud of him because he earned his seat, but all anyone is interested in hearing is how much he brings to the team. It would be fine if it wasn't so obvious that Eric only saw dollar signs. Yeah its nice that Bruno is going to be given a chance, but if he is in next year it will be down to money. Lets face it on Erics list of importance Vitaly and Bruno are the bottom two, Bruno being right at the bottom.
Sponsership will be apart of F1 forever, just wish it wasn't so damn obvious with Bruno. Or that his fans would keep harping on about it like its a brilliant thing. No it really isn't. Bruno's chance to secure a F1 seat on talent is happening RIGHT NOW and all some of this fans can get excited about is that he might be able to get enough money to buy one of the seats from someone just as talented as he is.

I know it is a difficult situation. Obviously money comes into it, and it is nice to know that Bruno can indeed stand with the other drivers when it comes to bringing sponsorship. I guess I would be more willing to be happy for a driver if they weren't my own driver. But the fact is so many of Bruno's fans have been trying to battle the "he's only getting where he's going because of his name and the money it brings" that to see the FANS give fuel to these people, who will never give Bruno credit for his talent anyway, annoys the hell out of me.
Yes I'm happy Bruno obviously has the sponsors, but instead of going on about it and how he's probably going to steal a seat because of it I'd rather talk about how he can work to maintain the seat due to hard work in the last races of the season. Because lets face it, if he gets the seat over Vitaly he did steal it in a way. I want him to get it, but I don't want it to be just the money, yet I've seen fans go mad purely because he has the MONEY to do it. It feels lik they've given up on his talent, and no amount of "but he has to have the money too" will change my feeling that they've given up on him being able to prove himself enough by talent alone. He has the same, if slightly more, sponsors as Vitaly, but they just sit there talking like Bruno is going to buy the team. If anything it will be down to who the team think will be better in the long run NOT just sponsors and it annoys me that fans aren't seeing that. They just see the money, and probably the name now, they've given up on Bruno's talent.

I guess when things happen like Hulk losing his seat to Maldando purely down to money then people are going to focus more on the money side of things.
I've only seen a handful of fans go on and on about the money aspect, and most of them only because I doubt they know enough about F1 to debate about talent. They are blinded by the talent because they don't know what any of the F1 circus is about so they cling onto the one thing they do understand which is the money. The Renault seat is going to be the most interesting one over the next few months because there are so many different possibilities and factors.

You see we'll have to agree to disagree on the Hulk thing. I'm firmly behind Anna's opinion of Hulk and think Pastor has done the same job as Hulk, the only difference is Pastor won't get a pole position. But in the long run, one pole position wasn't enough to save his job and Pastor has done a good enough job to show he deserved the seat as much as Hulk did. Yeah he brought money with him but to be fair what Hulk lacked in funds he made up for with a stupidly high reputation. Pastor was already losing with the fans coming into the season, Hulk was already winning. Hulk got a pole and was the next coming, Pastor could win a race and still not be thought of as highly. But that is something completely different.
I guess its true, but back before Brawn and all that, when Jenson was going through the motions with Williams/Honda no one sat there really deciding whether Jenson would get a seat on sponsorship. It was obvious he had it, but Jenson fans had faith and talked about him getting the seat through his talent. Yes the money he had was always going to be there but fans didn't go on about it all the time. Times might have changed, but at the same time it is obvious that all the Renault drivers HAVE sponsorship, why they are talking about it at the moment I don't know! Its just fustrating. But your right, it could just be because they don't have confidence in their knowledge of other factors that will come into play.

Yes but you have to admit that a little bit of the reason for replacing Hulk was down to money. Just because the person who came in ended up being just as good as the person he replaced doesn't in fact change the point he was replaced because he didn't bring in the sponsorship.
Yes the whole hoohaa about talented drivers losing out to "pay drivers" was over blown because of Hulks reputation and the expectations and over hyped reaction to his otherwise average rookie season. But people really believed he was the next "talent" and Pastor had brought the seat which has brought pay drivers, no matter how talented to the forefront. With the economic problems in the world, the lack of sponsors, the restriction on sponsors and all that sponsorship brought in by drivers is important.
I will agree that there is no real point arguing over Bruno's sponsors because Vitaly has a lot of sponsors and Renault will find the sponsors they want with Romain. Robert, Vitaly and Romain are in a good position with being the front runners and only drivers in line for F1 drives from their countries. The only factors now will not really be sponsors but the talent and the long term goals for the team. I agree to that point. But people will always talk about it because that is what they understand and certain events in the last few years has brought supposed pay drivers to the front. And the talk will effect the rookies more so because they are only getting small amounts of time in mid-field teams. If they don't fullfill a long term goal they'll be gone no matter how talented.

OK I'll admit that is true, but as you said the whole situation where fans got uppity about it was based on paranoia they had made after deciding that Hulk was the greatest thing since Vettel and Hamilton. Based on his first season he wasn't close. Anyone who is in line for a seat must have sponsorship. I just don't see why we need to sit through pages of people discussing how much money and sponsors Bruno will bring. Why aren't we talking about how talented he's been? How much he's achieving? If he doesn't get a 2012 seat at least he's going to prove all the haters wrong, sometimes F1 just doesn't work out for some drivers for whatever reason. I'm just getting fed up of talking about Bruno's sponsors... Even though I'm the one carrying on moaning about it at the moment .

Hulkenberg can I complain about him? I feel I could rant about him . No. And Amanda lets just change the subject. That interview with Jaime where he "complained" about Mark keeping his seat. Do you think Mark was the right driver to carry on at Red Bull. And with all this "Jaime thinks he deserves better" misquoting etc would Jaime deserve to be at Red Bull.

The problem is that STR seat is actually a good one to have, Jaime just isn't seeing it that way. Should he replace Mark? He has as much right as Sebastien. Will he get the treatment he thinks he'll get? Hell no. His comment about how much slower Mark is to Sebi shows unexperience. When a driver is JUST THAT SLOW compared to a dominant partner it shows not a lack of skill but a unbalance of resource. Mark still has his uses for Red Bull, but he's pissed the bosses off once too often. To be honest Daniel has more chance of getting that seat then Jaime. I like Jaime and Sebastien, but both of them are about the same, Jaime drives with more flourish but Sebastien can get the same results quietly. They need to work to secure their own seats and not worry what Red Bull are doing. Hell Red Bull could throw a spanner into his works and choose someone OUTSIDE of the Red Bull developed drivers for all he knows. I like that he thinks he's ready for the big team... Unfortunately his results don't really show that and as positive as his attitude is, he really needs to worry about Daniel replacing him and not him replacing Mark Webber, who even if he is half a second behind Sebi is still highly thought of in the paddock. (I agree that he was misquoted though or at least the quote has been twisted)

When I was eating I was thinking about Jaime. It isn't something I do often whilst eating. And I have decided, in the way I come to these conclusions, that I don't care . It has been said by big mouth above me, Jaime and Buemi do the same job 9 times out of 10. Just Jaime goes about it in a "look at me I'm brilliant way" and Buemi does it in a "yeah, thats my job" kind of way. I do think they won't be thought of when the time comes, unless Jaime does something real big he isn't going to get the seat. Sebastien won't. Daniel might. Red Bull have millions of drivers.

Domenicali not ruling out newcomer for Massa’s seat
Bianchi or Perez in 2013?
Monday 26 September 2011 - 10h46, by GMM Stefano Domenicali has refused to rule out finding a place at Ferrari for another driver in 2013.
Fernando Alonso is signed up long beyond next season, but his current teammate Felipe Massa will be out of contract at the end of 2012.
At the front of the queue are the two drivers heading up Ferrari’s so-called driver ’academy’: French GP2 driver Jules Bianchi and 2011 Sauber rookie Sergio Perez.
Asked about Ferrari’s driver plans for Bianchi and Perez in 2013, Domenicali said in Singapore: "For 2013? Ah yes. Bianchi is a great talent and he had a positive season in GP2 but he needs to grow and gain experience next season.
"I cannot say now where he will be," the Italian told Spanish sports daily Marca, "but for sure we want to invest because we believe in him.
"As for Sergio, he has a contract with Sauber and he also has to grow. It is best not to put any goals at this time. May both of them have a good 2012," added Domenicali.
Meanwhile, the Italian was asked how much he worries about the rumours Flavio Briatore is waiting in the wings to be the next Ferrari team principal.
Making a circular motion with his fingers, he said: "Zero!"
